Exciting Merger News

MERGER WITH OLD EXCHANGE SURGERY – TO CREATE ‘GROVE MEDICAL PRACTICE’

After many months of preparation Cromwell Place Surgery and Old Exchange Surgery merged on the 1st April 2020 and are now known as Grove Medical Practice.

The next few months will be a period of transition which will be completed when, later in the year, the two practices are co-located on the extended Cromwell Place site.

Grove Medical Practice will be bringing the 7 GP Partners of Cromwell Place Surgery, Drs Jessop, Moffat, Gayton, Basuita, Mendoza, Chen and Pritchard into a new Partnership totalling 9 Partners with Dr Somers Heslam and Dr Leonard of Old Exchange Surgery.  Dr Gopall will continue as a GP with the new Practice.

During the period from 1st April 2020 until the building work at the Cromwell Place site is completed working arrangements will change in phases.  We would want everyone to know that it is our shared ambition that the entire Grove Medical Practice team will work together, utilising what is seen to be the best of both current practice systems, with a view to creating a new organisation that meets the needs of our shared patient population.

If it were not for the changes brought about by the response to COVID-19 we would have been saying that everything would be continuing at each site in much the same way as you are familiar with – but things are different – and what we have learned already is that when times are challenging it is better to be working in a larger group as this provides greater resilience and strength.  We see this as something that will be beneficial to the practice and those we care for both now while things are particularly challenging but also in the years to come.

Telephone contacts for both practices, are unchanged.

Our new practice email address is : grove.medical@nhs.net

***********************************************

For those who might be wondering about the new name for the Practice – Dr Grove was the first GP in St Ives – and he lived and worked from the building that is currently occupied by Cromwell Place Surgery – so as we look to an exciting future for your GP practice in St Ives we can also acknowledge the past and the history of GP practice from this site.
